A few practical questions

Before we work together.

Who is this for?

We work directly with families and family offices, and with advisers, outsourced CIOs, and multifamily offices serving their own clients. You may need help with a specific review or report, or an ongoing team for recurring work. We scope that support around the tasks and expertise needed, rather than assets alone.

What would you take off our hands?

We can help with investment reviews, portfolio analysis, reporting, record-keeping, documented procedures, follow-ups, and working with your providers. Your proposal spells out the tasks, workload, deadlines, people, and costs included. General-ledger support, bill-payment preparation, and other administration are only included when we have agreed the right staff, permissions, capacity, and fees.

Do we have to change banks or advisers?

No. You can keep your banks, custodians, and advisers. We work out how to fit alongside them and who is responsible for what. Any relevant provider incentives or conflicts are disclosed.

Who decides where our money goes?

For family-office engagements, your family and authorized investment team keep the decision and approval rights set out in the agreement. For adviser engagements, your firm retains investment judgment, client advice, supervision, and final report approval. We help prepare and review the information they need. Regulated investment advice, trading authority, custody, and money movement require the appropriate authorized providers and agreements. Your legal and tax advisers remain responsible for those areas.

What happens during the first six weeks?

You meet your operating lead and the specialists included in your scope, give us access to approved records, and work with us to get the priority tasks running. We test them using real work or approved past cases. Before you accept implementation, we review the trial outputs, source records, reporting, training, handover instructions, open issues, and next 90-day plan together. The schedule depends on timely access, information, and approvals.

What does it cost?

We charge a one-time setup fee and a fixed monthly fee for ongoing service. Get in touch to discuss the work you need; we confirm the scope and pricing in a written proposal before you commit. Setup is paid before we start. Monthly service begins after you accept the completed implementation, is paid in advance, and has a six-month minimum. The fee covers the workload in your agreement and is not a percentage of your assets. If you need only part of the service, we give you a separate quote for that work.

How do we decide whether it is worth the cost?

Include implementation, your team’s participation and review, software, and ongoing support. Compare those costs with the benefits you need, such as faster reporting, fewer corrections, or less dependence on one person. Agree a baseline and review date. Time released is useful capacity; it becomes cash savings only when an expense is actually removed.

What if we need more help later?

Your lead reviews changes in workload and the procedures and systems covered by your mandate. We keep the agreed handover records current. If you need more work or new capabilities, we confirm who can handle them and agree any additional fee before starting.

What if you are not ready after six weeks?

If work USG is responsible for is late, we keep working on it at no additional professional fee until it is delivered and accepted. Delays in client inputs or approvals, and changes to scope, can move the date. Approved outside costs follow your agreement. This commitment covers our implementation work; investment returns, funding, acquisitions, and transaction outcomes are not guaranteed.

Where does AI fit in?

We use technology to help organize records, prepare documents, track requests, and produce reports. That gives people more time for the work that needs judgment. We agree approved sources, tools, access, retention, and human review before confidential information is shared. Confidential material is not put into an AI service without your approval. Your team keeps its agreed approvals and decisions.

Can we bring you in to help our clients?

Yes. Your firm hires and pays USG to complete the agreed client work, either behind your brand or as a disclosed delivery partner. You retain client relationships, advice, supervision, and final approvals. We agree access, client contact, and responsibilities before starting.
